Pam, I recently came across a FB post for Log Cabin Vintage that handles children's books. I have yet to buy anything from them but I have enjoyed looking at their web site. Books from even my childhood which was the 50's! You may find it interesting as well. Always love your videos and hearing about your plans. Thank you.

Hi Pam, hope you had a happy new year wishing you a year ahead filled with good stitching, good health and lots of fun with your granddaughter. I am trying to get rid of stuff, but I can’t pass up putting up my village so that still stays as long as I have a place to store who cares happy stitching cheers😂

@@susanacevedo3552 Happy New Year’s to you, too. We have had a good start to the year. I wish I had the space for the village like I used to. I used to empty all the shelves on either side of the fireplace. We’d come up with a way to manage all the cords and I’d made back drops to make it look like night sky…but…times are changing. In the house before that I used to put them up above the kitchen cabinets. We will be spending future Christmases up near our kids so we will see what happens in that house. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do with my china. Nobody wants china and every thrift store has multiple sets. Who knew it wasn’t going to be relevant one day. My daughter can’t imagine how it used to be when getting a single place setting was an exciting gift. Anyhow, thanks for stopping by. Pam

Oh I hear you about the letting go of things. We have three grown kids who have their own homes and aren’t having children of their own. They live a very minimalistic lifestyle. I suffered a debilitating back injury this year and am facing lung surgery next week so I have been cleaning out as much as I can. It’s been done with tears and much reminiscing. I don’t buy things anymore, and I bought very little crossstitch this year. I have more than I will ever be able to stitch.

@@nevadastitcher I am sorry you suffered such a serious injury….and now surgery. I saw a wip parade yesterday where the stitcher talked about getting rid of things that made her go ‘ugh’ whenever she came across the project. She figured that if she kept forgetting about the project and then wasn’t happy to see it when she came across it then she could throw it away and never miss it. I applied that thinking on a smaller scale to the Christmas ornaments I thinned out. I also keep a box to collect things for the local thrift store. It’s not a lot but it’s something. Wishing you all the best and a rapid recovery. Pam

@@phyllisjohnson1885 Thanks. I thought I got rambly and considered cutting things but didn’t. Just yesterday I was watching someone’s Christmas home tour and I saw a little display that would work well with some things I have but I’d need to buy ‘just one or two little things’ to fill it out. OY. I’m my worst own enemy.

Love your projects especially the truck in front of the house. I’m in a cleaning out mood too. We have three small sheds with stuff that I need to get rid of. I’m hoping we move in 4 years so I’m looking at things and asking myself, do I really want to pack and unpack this? I have no idea what kind of house we will end up in only that it will have a much smaller yard! I’m with you, I want less to dust and clean, more time to stitch and sew!
    Have a Happy New Year!

@@karenbudnick That’s a very valid plan! I have an abundance of front hallway closets so most of my stuff is housed there so the stair plan won’t work but I keep thinking about how else I could use that space. Since we have only just begun having grandkids I think about one of my kids wishing for something I got rid of.

The lamp I use on my machine table died. I love the look and slimness of the silver lamp behind you. Do you mind sharing the brand and where you found it?
I would love to see you finish Kindred Spirits and try it in your box. Can you just put it in without fastening it down? If you don't like it you can pull it out and do something else with it. You have already done so much of the work. If you finish the box I hope you will use it. So many people save things. I'm realizing I should be using my things not just keeping them.
I have always enjoyed my collections and I had a lot of collections. We downsized and moved into a CCRC a year ago. Letting go was painful. If you are in the mood to clean out strike while the iron is hot. I find myself reaching for things I no longer have. I tell myself to be creative and find something else to use or display instead. I do enjoy having less to clean and store.
Thank you for your videos. You are good company.

@@carolynmeadows4538 I got the lamp on Amazon. It’s a Slimlime 3 floor lamp by Daylight. For me, it’s perfect. I can swing it this way and that to illuminate my sewing area or my ironing area. I have another at my cutting table. The box for the Kindred Spirits pieces is a beautiful Shaker tray. The idea is to line the interior with silk and the finished pieces. I love the tray but not the stitching or the silk. So, I’m not really motivated to do the work. I don’t like not finishing what I start but I’ve already been using the tray in decorative vinettes. I once read an article about letting go of unfinished quilt projects and it said that you have to think differently about the project. If it was from a class maybe the value came from taking the class and learning something and not necessarily finishing the project. I’m trying to apply that thought process to this project. Hope the lamp works out for you. Pam
